Meet the HDC Trainers
Liam "Coach Red" McDonald
"Coach Red" McDonald is the site director for the Hockey Development Center. Coach Red grew up in Richfield, Minnesota and played hockey for Vermilion College (Ely) from 1984-86 and Concordia College (Moorhead) from 1986-88. After college, he was assistant coach at Concordia for a year and since has focused on youth from Bantams to Beginners. He recently received his Level 5 Master coaching certification from USA Hockey.
Mark Olsen
Mark Olsen is the general manager for the HDC. He grew up in Burnsville and played NCAA Division 1 hockey at Colorado College. Mark currently coaches in the Lakeville Hockey Association.
J.R. Aller
J.R. grew up in West St. Paul and played hockey for Henry-Sibley High School. J.R. spent many years as an instructor for the J-Robinson Hockey Camps in cities throughout North America.
Ty Eigner
Ty Eigner is a former Rosemount player and played college hockey for Bowling Green State University. Ty has many years of high level coaching experience and is currently an assistant coach for the Eden Prairie varsity team.
Eric Scott
Eric Scott is an Indiana native and has spent 15 years training hockey players on the skating treadmill. Eric has also worked alongside Kirk Olson during multiple Minnesota Wild pre-season training sessions.
Nick VonFicher
Nick is former Augsburg player from Park-Cottage Grove. Nick is currently an assistant coach for Lakeville South High School.
Brian Turnau
Brian is a Park Center graduate and coached with the Orono Bantam teams over the last few years. He recently returned from serving our country in Iraq.
Darren Messmore
Darren played Junior A hockey in Saskatchewan and is currently an assistant coach for the Woodbury varsity team. Darren also instructed multiple years with the J-Robinson Hockey Camps.
Jared Olson
Jared is a recent grad from Lakeville South High School and is currently playing Junior A hockey for the Hudson Crusaders.
